I am a ceramic artist based in Cardiff, South Wales, currently studying on a Ba (Hons) Ceramic degree at Cardiff Met and graduating in 2016. I started studying ceramic as a specialist subject, three years prior to my degree.
My work is rooted in Gender Identity. I have found that the issues of gender are widely ignored in society My work challenges the ideologies and the social constructs that have bound society, where freedom is limited and where a human’s right to be who they are stunted. Key to my work is the challenge to patriarchal society in relation to masculinity and femininity.
My academic studies on gender, subcultures and theories on the Glamourous and the Grotesque allows my work to walk the line of ambiguity, as my work is not a literal representation of humanity, rather the many layers within the study, underlines the key debates and issues in the Gender Identity.
